Course of Study
The diploma course is for 2 years. In which students take knowledge of various subjects like pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical jurisprudence, pharmacology, drug store and business management, biochemistry, and practicals also. The gaining information on medicinal preparation, the therapeutic effect of drugs and adverse effects of drugs, etc. is also known about pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics and many more. The student will also understand various techniques to perform different practical’s with different methods.
Practical knowledge is important in pharmacy, to understand the concept. and various methods to perform practical work. Practical knowledge helps the student in various ways. To perform the practical lab manual is given by all colleges. According to a manual the practical is performed in colleges.
Diploma in Pharmacy 1st year and Diploma in pharmacy 2nd year shall include the subjects as given above. Every subject is given a specific time duration to complete the subject and a specific time duration For practicals also.
Short information on the subject
Pharmaceutics:- In the pharmaceutics subject we study various machines and their processes, pharmaceutical applications, how they work, and introduction to various dosage forms. Various techniques of mixing, Preparation of tablets and capsules, evaluation tests and parameters, antiseptic techniques, and posology. Metrology, techniques of homogenization, various size separation methods, distillation processes, etc.
Pharmaceutical chemistry:- In pharmaceutical chemistry, we study organic and inorganic compounds. In Pc (Pharmaceutical chemistry) we also learn chemical reactions, chemical structures, physical properties, chemical properties, pharmaceutical uses, and storage conditions. various assays, identification tests, chemical incompatibility, etc.
Pharmacognosy:- The subject of pharmacognosy consists of indigenous systems of medicine. The classification of crude drugs, Biological sources, physical and chemicals property, Info about adulteration of drugs, isolation processes, identifications tests, therapeutic effects, pharmaceutical applications,
Biochemistry and clinical pathology:- This subject consists of all information about carbohydrates, proteins, polypeptides, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, pathology of blood and urine, etc.
Human anatomy and physiology:- In this subject, we study definitions of various anatomy definitions. Structure and functions of numerous tissues and organs, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, muscular system, central nervous system, endocrine system, etc.
Health education and community pharmacy:- In this subject, we study the concept of health, first aid, communicable diseases, Environment and health, Sexually transmitted diseases, Arthropod-borne infections, Fundamental principles of microbiology
Pharmacology and Toxicology:- In this subject, we study the scope of pharmacology, mechanism of drug action, different routes of administration, the drug acting on the central nervous system, autacoids, the drug acting on the respiratory system, the drug acting on the digestive system, Chemotherapy of microbial diseases, etc.
Pharmaceutical jurisprudence:- In this subject, we study laws, rules and regulations, different acts, schedules, the Pharmacy Act of 1948, the Drug and cosmetic act of 1940, The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement)Act, of 1954, Narcotic Drugs and psychotropic substances Act,1985, Poisons Act 1919 numerous laws and regulation, etc.
